Most of you would have noticed yourself what we wanted to show by showing the last 8 years’ NEET scores. Well if not, there has been an uprising trend noticeable from 2018 till 2025 in general with some exceptions. The qualifying marks/cut-off marks that were as low as 119 & 96 in 2018 have been slowly increasing over time with peak scores of 162 (General) & 127 (SC/ST/OBC) in 2024. The qualifying marks/cut-off dipped to it’s lowest ever in NEET 2022 with a score of 107 & 93 marks.

However, this does not mean that the NEET 2026 qualifying marks will be higher because previous year’s NEET exam was easier. In 2024, there were several candidates who scored full 720/720 marks which is quite un-expected any time soon in NEET 2026 or after it.

How much minimum score should the students target in NEET 2026 to study MBBS abroad ?

We suggest students to aim to score at least 160 (For General category) and 130 (For Reserved category). If you are able to achieve this score, you will have yourself on the safer side to choose any medical university abroad (government & private) where you wish to study medicine.

These qualifying marks might seem high or low to few readers according to the trend observed in past few years. But, if you target these scores, then it’s possible that you will at least end up scoring something more than this score. The qualifying marks in NEET 2026 actually might be less than our predictions. This is because we have suggested a minimum scores at which students can be fully optimistic about qualifying NEET, no matter how tough the exam is.

Staying in the 50th Percentile (General category) simple means that if 20 Lac student appear in the exam, then you have to stay in the top 10 Lac students. That’s it !

The cut-off marks are simply the 50th percentile’s last rank holder’s marks i.e. student who will have approx. 10 Lac rank. So, prepare well and try your best to “stay in the top 50% students”.

All NEET 2026 qualified students will be eligible for MBBS from abroad & India. The other 50% students in bottom half will not be qualified for for MBBS course from abroad/India too. The same applies to reserved category students, however the criteria is somewhat relaxed for them. They have to be in 40th percentile i.e. score better than 40% of reserved category students out of total reserved category appearing students.

If you are able to qualify NEET 2026, you will have diverse options of top government medical universities to choose from. The fees of each country in tabular format & details of all it’s medical universities that accept students from India can be checked from the below links :
